OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19
The Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic continues to monitor the changes and impact of COVID-19 on our community. We are adapting our clinical operations based on recommendations of the CDC and VDH. Our primary focus is the health and safety of our patients, staff and volunteers. We are continually working towards operational solutions that enable us to address the health care and medication needs of our patients.
All appointments of patients with non-critical needs at this time have been rescheduled.
Patients with medical or mental health needs are being helped over the phone by a member of the clinical staff and directed as necessary. There are no patients being treated inside the Clinic at this time.
We are providing both mental health and medical visits by telemedicine.
Medications and medication consults are being provided to patients at curbside.
For patients experiencing the following:
Fever 100.5 or greater
Shortness of breath (if experiencing shortness of breath, please go to the nearest Emergency Room)
Have been in close contact with anyone known to have COVID-19
Have recently traveled to an area with ongoing COVID-19 spread
Do not to come to the GMCC. Please call 804-210-1368 and speak with a member of our Clinical staff or call the nurse line at 1-800-675-6368 for information on how to proceed. We are currently unable to test for influenza or COVID-19 here at the GMCC – we can arrange COVID-19 testing through the health department, but a patient must meet the clinical criteria for this testing.
To minimize unnecessary contact, until further notice, the GMCC will not have in-person eligibility screening for new patients or re-certification for existing patients. All current patients who are up for recertification will be given a 90 day extension. Prospective patients should call 804-210-1368 and press option 8 and extension 207 or 214 for assistance with becoming a patient. We can complete initial eligibility screening through our online form or by phone/fax/email.
VOLUNTEERS & EMPLOYEES
The GMCC values all those who help us fulfill our mission, but at this time, we have asked our volunteers to not come to the Clinic to minimize risk of exposure and spread. We have asked employees to notify us and stay home if they are not feeling well. Also, those volunteers or employees who feel particularly vulnerable because of their age or health status should consult their healthcare provider to determine whether to remain home or continue to volunteer or work.
